How the Kosht Organic Cluster went from a paper list to a verified digital registry — and why every record starts with a farm.
The Kosht Organic Cluster is the first live cluster of the Chitral Organic Mission. It covers six villages inside Kosht Union Council, in Mulkhow tehsil of Upper Chitral, and it is where every part of the COM system is being proven before it reaches the rest of the valley.
Registration begins with a farmer and ends with a farm. That order matters. A farmer record with no land attached cannot be verified, cannot carry crops or trees, and cannot ever be certified — so creating the first farm is part of registration rather than something to do later.
Each farmer receives an identifier that carries their cluster inside it. The first farmer registered in Kosht is COM-KO-0001, and their first farm is FARM-KO-0001-01. Those identifiers are permanent. They appear on certificates, on payment records and in the audit trail, which is why a cluster code can never be changed once it has issued one.
Verification is where data quality is won. A Cluster Leader reviews the record with everything needed to judge it in one view, and the system refuses to verify a farmer who has no village, no mobile number, no home location or no farm. Nothing is approved on trust alone.
